Our world is changing so fast and in so many ways it can be breathtaking. The thing that seems to be so obvious is the polarization that is taking place. It seems that we are being driven, or perhaps a better word is herded, into different subgroups. These sub-groupings are a relic of the past, and while traditions are to be respected and given honor we must realize our unity in order to progress and get past all the things that have divided us and keep us viewing each others' differences in a negative way. Our amazingly rich cultural differences are a beautiful thing that should be respected and explored. Yet in the end we are all humans living in a symbiotic relationship with each other and the Earth itself. We are in a time of rapid growth in communication, technology and tremendous scientific advancements. We are realizing that many of the mysterious spiritual truths have scientific validity, and science is just starting to catch up with what many advanced spiritual aspirants have known for centuries. This world is a world of Maya i.e. illusion. Your thoughts are more real than the chair you sit on. Our intent helps to form our reality. When you break it down everything is energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can only change form. We are co-creators with the ultimate source of the universe no matter what name you give it. This has been a guarded mystery known by very few until recent times. This secret has been used by some for their own personal benefit. By planting the seeds of certain thoughts into the minds of the masses, they can control the flow of energy and increase the likelihood of manifesting the reality they desire--an outcome for their own personal benefit. The masses have been controlled for centuries through many different ways--religion, politics, and in this age the media are but a few. Ultimately this all comes down to creating a false sense of separation. We are much stronger together as one humanity than when we view ourselves as separated by nationality, religion or political affiliation. Just as you look out at the stars and marvel at how countless and how limitless they are, how vast and apparently empty most of the universe is, then realize this. If you shrank yourself down to a billionth of your current size and were to look upon another human being you would see the same thing--countless apparently unconnected stars (cells) with vast stretches or emptiness between them. Apparently unconnected yet the truth is together they are one. So are we. We are one. We must all come to realize this great truth and it needs to be soon. This three dimensional reality we exist in is expressed through duality. The interplay of these dualistic forces gives rise to the possibility of motion. In traditional Chinese philosophy this is expressed as the Tao, the two opposing forces that together create a unity, each containing the essence of the other, each unable to express itself fully without the other. As humans, no matter how hard we try, we will never be able to fully eradicate ourselves of the energies of either. We are composed of both of these energies and all have our light and dark aspects. We need to accept that and at the same time realize our oneness. When we harm another in any way we are ultimately harming ourselves. Prejudice, bigotry, hatred, intolerance and greed are all self-destructive behaviors based on fear and separation. This apparent separation is an illusion, and thus all these negative aspects are based on lies and not truths. Why hold so strongly onto these divisive and destructive untruths? It is because societal norms have conditioned us from birth to do just that. We have be before us the potential for a golden age. It is time to let go of the destructive ways of the past and embrace new possibilities. We have been taught to be competitive and that has taken us only so far. Capitalism has spurred new inventions and ideas which have led to tremendous growth and innovation. Yet, the greed and self-centered behavior it has promoted has led to the tremendous inequality that exists in the world now. The banking system and the pharmaceutical industry are perfect examples of all that is wrong in the world. When farmers are given subsidies to NOT produce something is wrong. When profit margins are more important than helping others something is wrong. When soldiers are given shots and not told what they are something is wrong. When medications create more problems than they fix something is wrong. Can you imaging what could be achieved if there was one united humanity and there was no need to spend trillions of dollars each year in order to kill each other more efficiently? We need to move past this. People are waking up to the fact that something is terribly wrong in the world and needs to change. The change must come through peaceful means. Can you imagine where we would be if all the money spent on the great war machine that is the military-industrial complex was spent on ending poverty, eradicating disease, creating clean energy and exploring the arts and sciences? It would be quite a different world would it not? We must keep in mind the symbiotic relationship of all life on this planet and not allow ourselves to be manipulated by greedy politicians and the media. Unfortunately, most of the major media has agendas and is only serving those who want to promote the division and strife that keeps profits flowing. So what are we to do? They greatest change one can affect is on oneself. We each need to grow. How do we do this? By not allowing ourselves to fall into old negative patterns that no longer serve us. Spend time grounding yourself in nature whenever possible. Take time to watch children playing and see how amazing and magical the world is through their eyes. Take up a practice like tai chi, qigong, yoga, or meditation. But most of all be aware of the oneness of all life that is around you.
